Ever since I was little I always wished that I could fly. I'm not really sure why but I just knew that I would love to be up in the air. Soaring around and feeling the wind in my face. At the time that I decided that I would want to be a bird of some kind I had never actually flown anywhere before. Flying seemed to define being free to me.
The difficulty is deciding what KIND of bird. This is more difficult than it sounds. At first I thought, I would love to be an owl. But then I realized that they are nocturnal and I would prefer to fly during the day. I would love to be a kind of bird that would be able to fly across the ocean. This would be ideal to go and visit friends in Scotland, Singapore, Thailand, and many different countries in Africa.
Are any bird capable of that kind of flight? I don't think so and that bums me out just a little bit.
There are some birds that I veto, such as seagulls, turkey vulture, vultures of any kind, crows and pigeons. I'm sure there are others I am missing but I've thought enough for one minute.
Perhaps I would like to be an eagle or a peregrine falcon. That would be sweet. I would also be fast and in shape all the time, because if I wasn't I'd die. Which is not currently I predicament I have. Perhaps unfortunately.
I love the feeling of being in the air, when I know that I will land safely. Two of my best friends and I were talking about weird urges that we had sometimes, mine is jumping off high cliffs (that don't land in water).
Please don't call the people in the white coats, it's not a death wish, just a free falling through the air wish.
I've had someone else agree with me on this one before, so I'm not alone. So stop squinting at me curiously through your computer screen.
If I was an eagle I could throw myself off a cliff and no one would question me. Then I could soar through the air and do it all over again if I wished. Hurrah for flying!
I hope you've all had a wonderful start to the week.
Mine was full of sweet children, children with attitude, children who listened, children who did anything but listen, children who pouted and children who laughed. For the most part it was a good balance. Though sometimes the 'tude seemed to be winning out a little bit more than the sweet. Kids continually surprise me. Parents continually surprise me. Ah, life. What an adventure God has us on!
