Hello! Thanks for reading this. I know it's been a while. I'm not the most consistent and steady of bloggers so I appreciate you taking the time to even click the link and pop over to my blog! I'm so glad you're here.
Recently, as I've been reading the news and talking with close friends I've had this heaviness weighing on me. It is partly the heaviness that comes with the reality that the world is not as it should be. I think no matter your faith background you could probably agree with me on this point. Another aspect of the heaviness comes as I observe and see Christians within Canada (and much of North America) and the way that we show up in spaces. In reflecting on this I had this song pop up in my head that I had learned in elementary school (I went to a Christian school). That song spun out into more reflection and one night when I was lying in bed, unable to sleep because of the sadness (and to be honest anger), I felt prompted to write a letter to my fellow believers in Canada.
This letter turned into three letters...it may turn into more but for now it is three. I debated and prayed about what to do with these letters. As I've chatted with a few friends who are also believers I have felt sharing these letters is an opportunity to start a conversation. It may be a small conversation that is part of a larger conversation that I think is already taking place... but to even start that conversation beyond my small group of friends felt like what I was supposed to do. I don't pretend to know it all or have all the answers but thankfully we have a present God who has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us. I hope we can all go on this journey together.
Over the next week or so I am planning to share these letters through Facebook and Instagram. I hope that if you read them you take the opportunity to see how God might be speaking to you through them. If they resonate with you, I ask that you would share them! It would be great if these letters would start an honest, loving and gracious conversation in the Christian community. A conversation where together we all consider our lives and behaviours and then honestly look at how we are presenting who Christ is to those around us.
Thank-you for joining me in this journey-however you may do that.
